State police at the Frackville barracks were summoned at 1:28 a.m. Dec. 25 to investigate an assault/disorderly conduct incident at a bar in Girardville.

The incident took place at Hall's Nowhere Bar, 200 N. Second St.

Police said the incident occurred when Craig V. Brennan, 36, of Girardville, was assaulting a female in the bar, at which time John M. Shields, 42, also of Girardville, intervened in an attempt to stop Brennan from further assaulting the woman. Police said Brennan began assaulting Shields by punching him several times in the face. Shields then pushed Brennan against a wall in an attempt to stop him from hitting him. Police said Brennan also bit Shields in the left hand, causing lacerations.

Police said Brennan and the female fled the scene in a vehicle.
