Heritage Hill resident will be 92

Ethel M. (Eicke) Kitchen, a resident at Heritage Hill Senior Community in Weatherly, is celebrating her 92nd birthday.

Born in Shenandoah on Dec. 23, 1921 she is the daughter of the late Carrie (Rose) and Alonzo Eicke.Ethel and her sister, Carrie, were raised by their four paternal aunts in Wilkes-Barre.She graduated from

G.A.R. High School, Wilkes-Barre in 1939. She retired from 20 years of service from the Carbon County Court House as secretary to District Attorney George Kerestes, District Attorney John Deutsch and Judge Richard Webb.Ethel was married to the late Glenn A. Kitchen, who died in 1941. They resided in Weatherly since 1949.She has one daughter, Mrs. Michael (JoAnn) Garber of Weatherly, and a sister, Carrie Rifenbery of Luzerne.Ethel is a member of Zions Evangelical Lutheran Church, Weatherly and Zions Busy Bees. She is a member of The Trinity Volunteer Group, Hazleton, and The Weatherly American Legion Auxiliary. Ethel is also a former member of The Weatherly Senior Friendship Club and Carbon County Republican Ladies Club.She enjoyed 13 cruises and many trips abroad with her late husband and daughter.
