No one was injured when a school transport van carrying one student was sideswiped at 6:55 a.m. Dec. 19 on Route 209 in east Norweigan Township.

State police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks said Michael G. Uranko, 31, of Pottsville, was driving a 2004 Pontiac Sunfire that slid on ice as he was negotiating a right curve in the roadway. Police said the car entered the opposite lane where it sideswiped the 2003 Ford E350 that was operated by Ryan G. Troxell, 40, of Tamaqua.Police said the one student in the van, Ryan E, Harris, 16, of New Philadelphia, was unhurt, as was another passenger, Robert C. Felty, 23, of Tamaqua. Police said the student was released in the custody of his grandmother.Both vehicles were towed from the scene.Police said Uranko will be cited for driving too fast for conditions.
