A Palmerton man escaped injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 10:14 p.m. Dec. 18 on Route 895 (Hughes Street) in New Ringgold.

State police at the Frackville barracks said Johnny Yurkunas, 38, was driving a 2014 Ford Escape when he fell asleep while the vehicle was negotiating a left-hand curve in the road. The car left the south berm, struck an embankment and came to rest in a creek facing east.Police said the vehicle sustained disabling damages.The operator will be cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic (failure to drive within a single lane).
