Lansford woman struck by vehicle

Lansford police are investigating a hit-and-run accident involving a pedestrian.

Police received numerous calls around 2:30 p.m. Monday that a female was struck by a car on the 100 block of West Ridge Street, and the driver left the scene.

The incident occurred near the liquor store on West Ridge Street. The victim, whom police did not identify, was conscious and alert, and told police that she saw the driver before being hit. She described the driver as an older female with long, gray hair who was driving a tan-colored vehicle.

The victim was running in the street at the time and was run over by the car, sustaining injuries to her head, face, and body.

She was flown to St. Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem.

Police are reviewing surveillance video that may have captured the event.
