Attempted abduction incident reported in Penn Forest

State police at Lehighton are asking the public's assistance in an apparent child abduction incident.

Troopers said on two separate occasions a male approached a 13-year-old female as she walked home from a school bus stop. As she walked the male suspect repeatedly asked the victim if she would like a ride home. The victim said that the suspect exited his vehicle on one occasion.

The incidents occurred in the area of a bus stop located at the intersection of Sweet Briar Lane and Behrens Road, in Penn Forest Township. The incidents occurred between Dec. 3 and 10, and between 3:40 and 4 p.m.

The suspect was described as a white male, short, with thin build, between the age of 35-45, with short gray/white hair and a beard.

The suspect vehicle is an older model, dull colored, dark green which has a strong exhaust odor.
