Thursday evening the Jim Thorpe High School inducted its newest members into the National Honor Society. The eight seniors inducted last year are being joined by nine new seniors and nine members of the junior class.

"In order to be eligible for induction into the National Honor Society students must maintain a 93 percent grade average, exhibit community service, leadership and actively participate in school activities," student advisor Suzanne Milkowich said.

"The students must then submit an application, a resume and write an essay," Milkowich added.

Once students have met the requirements, a faculty committee meets to review the applicants and select the new members.

During the induction ceremony the students are presented with a gold academic honors cord which is worn at graduation.
