Clem McGinley renamed Thorpe board president

Dr. Clem McGinley will continue to serve as president of the Jim Thorpe Area School Board.

He was the only nominee for the presidency, and was elected by a 7-1 vote. The only dissenter was board member Gerald Strubinger."I am not satisfied with the last term of office of Mr. McGinley," said Strubinger, adding that he opposed McGinley as president because "we need to hear the voices of the citizens at all times."Renamed vice president was John Partenio by an 8-0 vote.Attorney Gregory Mousseau was unanimously reappointed solicitor.During the reorganization meeting, business manager and board manager Lauren K. Kovac served as temporary president.The board will continue to meet at 7 p.m. on the second Monday of each month at either the district office or at the Penn-Kidder campus. The meetings are on an alternating basis at the two sites.The January and February meetings will be held at Penn-Kidder school, though.Committee meetings will be on the first and last Mondays and third Wednesday, as needed.The committee meeting on the last Monday may be used for a regular board meeting, if needed.
