47 wings in 10 minutes
Dean Founds of Summit Hill rips into a wing during the Batter's Box Wing Off Friday afternoon. Founds won the event, eating 47 wings in 10 minutes.
While many people were out looking for hot deals on Black Friday, 13 people were at the Batter's Box Sports Bar and Grille in Summit Hill looking for hot wings.
The Batter's Box and Magic 105.5, the local radio station, teamed up to host the first "Batter's Box Wing Off" in memory of Ray "Moose" Hartung. All proceeds from the event benefitted the Hartung family.
The contestants started working their way through the packed house about 15 minutes before the event kicked off. Once all 13 were in position, Batter's Box owner, Danny Matika, started bringing out the 90 pounds of hot wings his kitchen staff prepared.
In the end Dean Founds, of Summit Hill, was victorious scarfing down 47 wings in 10 minutes beating his closest rival, Mark Williams of Lansford, by 10 wings.
