Pat Handwerk, of the Harry Packer Mansion, found this contest last year and is promoting it again this year.
"Being a part of this contest is another great acknowledgement that the Jim Thorpe area is fantastic for visiting. Jim Thorpe is a great town in our country," stated Handwerk.
The Best of the Road contest is for towns in America with populations under 150,000. The focus of this competition is finding the Best Small Towns in America. There are six categories that the towns can compete in: Most Beautiful, Most Fun, Most Patriotic, Friendliest, Best Food, and Best for Geocaching.
After voting, judges will announce 30 finalists. Then the judges will make a final decision in October. The winning towns will receive a feature in the 2015 Rand McNally Road Atlas.
