Standing on a ladder, Captain Jason Hartz, Citizen's Fire Company, works with fellow firefighters to install veteran banners on poles at the east end of Tamaqua as part of the Tamaqua Chamber of Commerce's Hometown Hero Banner Program. In addition to honoring the veterans with these banners, the chamber makes a donation to Tamaqua American Legion Post 173 for each banner that is purchased. Linda Yulanavage, executive director of the chamber, said over 50 new banners are expected to be placed by fire company members and other volunteers throughout Tamaqua over the next few weeks. To help place banners, or for more information, call the chamber office Monday to Friday at (570) 668-1880.
