A homeless man from Lehighton was taken into custody for building a campfire in front of the Verizon building in downtown Tamaqua around 5:15 a.m. today. Passers-by called 911 after seeing the man huddled around the fire. Police said the man is expected to be cited for public drunkenness. Tamaqua Salvation Army offered assistance to the man. Pictured extinguishing the campfire are South Ward Fire Chief Mark Bower and Police Cpl. Dwayne Hacker.
