Fire companies give donation to Arner family

Published August 22. 2013 05:04PM

Showing support for a fellow firefighter, members of five local fire companies made a donation to the Arner family following the Matt Aungst Softball benefit held over the weekend at the Barnesville Sports Field. Pictured during the check presentation are, from left, Alecia Aungst, Mary Kelly Aungst, David Aungst, John Arner, Chris Aungst, Mike Hobbs and Joe Greco. The donation was given to the Arner family after Madison Arner, 7, lost her life following a house fire in McAdoo in June. Madison's father, John Arner, volunteered as a firefighter. The benefit was named after the late Matt Aungst, who served as a junior firefighter was with the Lansford Fire Company when he passed away at age 15 in 2011. Fire companies involved in the benefit were Tamaqua's American Hose Company, Tamaqua's Citizen Fire Company, Summit Hill Fire Company, Tamaqua's East End Fire Company and two teams from the Lansford Fire Company.
