Boy Scouts from Penn Forest Troop 555 and Nesquehoning Troop 744 teamed up recently at the Lansford Pool to work on earning the Eagle rank Swimming Merit Badge.

Fourteen boys participated in the instruction and testing that was given by Scout Leader Bob Thomas of Lansford.

During the three days of classes, Thomas taught the Scouts basic first-aid, CPR and how to respond to heat- and cold-related emergencies.

The boys also learned various swimming strokes and water survival skills such as survival floating, various rescue entries and different ways to create makeshift flotation devices.
