Just over 200 golfers took part in the Black Diamond's Parrothead Club's (BDPC) 10th Annual Margaritaville Open golf benefit over the weekend to benefit a variety of community organizations.
Golfer Bruce Hibbs, Delaware, sunk a hole-in-one on the second hole of the mountain course, and won a 2014 Kia, donated by Lehighton Kia, sponsors of the hole.
Hibbs said that this was his seventh hole-in-one, adding that it was the first time he actually won something.
Members of the club volunteer hundreds of hours every year to raise funds for numerous community organizations.
Club President Tom Tirpak said that the purpose of the club is to promote the international network of Parrot Head Clubs as a humanitarian group sharing information and social activities for mutual benefit.
"We engage in activities that are charitable, educational and that promote the general welfare of the community," said Tirpak.
Since 2007, the local club, based out of Summit Hill, has raised over $57,000 via 1,800 volunteer hours.
