Schuylkill crashes

Published August 19. 2013 05:06PM

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on the following crashes probed by troopers on Schuylkill County roads.

A two-vehicle crash occurred about 4:31 p.m. on Aug. 15 along SR183 at an exit to the Cressona Mall, in North Manheim Township. Troopers said Robert A. O'Donald, 33, of Reading, was eastbound on the exit road from the mall and stopped at the intersection of SR183.

O'Donald then proceeded into the intersection and pulled directly into the path of Edward F. Heffron, 39, of Pottsville, who was southbound on 183. Heffron applied his brakes but could not stop. The right front bumper of Heffron's 1995 Jeep Wrangler struck the left front fender/wheel of O'Donald's 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier.

No one was injured. Troopers cited O'Donald for vehicle turning left.

A three-vehicle rear-end type crash was reported about 1:05 p.m. on Aug. 17 along SR183, in Wayne Township. Troopers said Kimberly A. Nagle, 30, of Schuylkill Haven, driving a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt, was stopped waiting for a vehicle in front of her attempting a left turn. Mary A. Steinly, 51, of Schuylkill Haven, driving a 1998 Chevrolet Venture, was approaching southbound while Theodore H. Heffner, 77, of Pottsville, driving a 2001 Toyota Avalon, was behind Steinly.

Heffner was unable to stop in time and his vehicle hit the rear of Steinly's, pushing it into Nagle's vehicle.

Heffner and his wife, Barbara A., 70, and Steinly, were injured as well as Edward P. Neidlinger, 52, of Schuylkill Haven, a passenger with Nagle. All were taken to the Reading Hospital.

Troopers cited Heffner for driving a vehicle at a (un) safe speed.

A driver is facing charges following a crash in which his vehicle struck two parked vehicles. The crash occurred about 2:30 a.m. along Fourth Street in Port Carbon. Troopers said James V. Long Jr., 19, of Pottsville, was driving a 1996 Dodge Intrepid westbound at a high rate of speed when his vehicle struck a parked 2008 Chevrolet Aveo, pushing it into a parked 2004 Dodge Stratus.

Long was not injured. Damages were termed heavy to all three vehicles.

Charges are pending, troopers said.
