Four fire companies came together over the weekend to participate in the 3rd annual Matt Aungst Softball Tournament held this year at the Barnesville Sports Field.
The benefit, held to benefit firefighters and their families, is named after the late Matt Aungst, who was a junior firefighter with the Lansford Fire Company when he passed away at age of 15 in May of 2011.
Fire companies involved were Tamaqua's American Hose Company, Summit Hill Fire Company, Tamaqua's East End Fire Company and Lansford Fire Company - which had two teams.
This year's event benefited the family of Madison Arner, 7, who lost her life following a house fire in McAdoo in June.
Madison's father volunteered as a firefighter.
