The Nesquehoning children's summer lunch program was a success.

Thanks to the supportive donations of Nesquehoning businesses, clubs, and individuals, balanced lunches were served four days each week from June 17 through August 16 by members of Meed's United Methodist Church on West Catawissa Street.

The lunch program team, chaired by Grace Vandermartin, planned nutritious meals, shopped for supplies, and prepared the tasty lunches.

There were 16 sponsors with 1,400 meals served in the 38 days. Included were some adults as well.

A favorite meal was tacos with a second being beefaronis tied with a brunch of french toast, waffles and bacon. Balanced meals with meat, a veggie and fruit along with juice were served.

The serving team announced they thank the businesses and organizations for their generosity and the members of the church, Pastor Dale, and Pastor Bill, and the volunteers who helped to make it a success.
