Bowmanstown picnic held for town centennial

A community picnic will be held in Bowmanstown this Sunday to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the borough.

The picnic will take place Sunday, Aug. 18 from 4-8 p.m.

Hot dogs, hamburgers and soft drinks will be provided. Those in attendance are asked to bring a side dish or dessert.

During the picnic, the borough will hold a dedication ceremony to honor Oliver J. Solt and Forrest "Foffie" Beers.

The new pavilion will be named after Solt, who is 100 years old, while the Bowmanstown ball field will be named after Beers.

The picnic is sponsored by the Bowmanstown borough and made possible by Bowmanstown Area Residents Connected, the Bowmanstown/Parryville Lions Club, and the Bowmanstown Volunteer Fire Company.
