Director resigns from Jim Thorpe school board

Published August 15. 2013 05:04PM

The Jim Thorpe Area School Board has received a letter of resignation from board member Robert Schaninger.

Schaninger's term would have expired by this December's school board reorganization meeting.

The school board is looking to fill the vacancy on the board.

The school board is seeking letters of intent, including credentials and qualifications, from residents in the Jim Thorpe Area School District that are interested in applying for the position.

The letters of intent may be submitted to the Board Secretary, Lauren Kovac, at Jim Thorpe Area School District, 410 Center Avenue, Jim Thorpe, PA 18229.

Letters of intent are due by noon on August 23.

Superintendent Dr. Barbara Conway stated, "I'm sad to see him (Schaninger) go. He brought unique experience to the board."

There will be a special school board meeting on August 26 at 6 p.m. in the district office.
