Heather Marie Van Strander and William W. Watkins II have announced their engagement.

Both are graduates of Lehighton Area High School and currently live in Saylorsburg.The daughter of Terry and Dotty (Derrico) Van Strander of Lehighton, the bride-to-be is a graduate of Kutztown University, where she is working on her master's degree in counseling. She is employed by Carbon County.The prospective bridegroom is the son of W. Wynn Watkins of Lehighton and Susan Heffelfinger Watkins of East Stroudsburg. He has an engineering degree from Virginia Tech and works at Mt. Airy Casino in Swiftwater.A spring wedding is being planned.
