Tamaqua driver injured in crash

A Tamaqua driver was injured in a one-vehicle crash on Monday. It was one of two crashes reported by state police at Frackville.

Troopers said Samantha Digilio, 21, was driving a 2003 Chrysler Sebring westbound on Morea Road, Mahanoy Township, about 3:35 a.m. when she crossed into the eastbound lane and traveled along the south berm before striking a tree, causing the car to roll over onto its left side and coming to rest along the berm.

Digilio sustained a minor injury and was taken by Mahanoy City ambulance to St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale.

Troopers cited Digilio for careless driving.

Troopers investigated a one-vehicle crash about 1:40 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4, along Shenandoah Road, Union Township. Troopers said Tracy L. Mensinger, 37, of Ringtown, was driving a 2006 Jeep Liberty northbound when she crossed onto the east berm where the vehicle struck several trees with the front end.

After impact the Liberty traveled back onto the road and struck a mailbox, then drifted backward across the road with the rear end of the vehicle striking a fence where it came to rest.

Mensinger was not injured. She was cited for speeding, troopers said.
