NBA's Chris Herren to speak at Marian

Published April 24. 2013 05:04PM

Former NBA basketball player Chris Herren, whose life has been chronicled in ESPN's award-winning documentary "Unguarded" will be speaking tonight at Marian High School.

Admission to this event, which is sponsored by Mauch Chunk Pharmacy and will start at 7 p.m., is free to the public.

Herren starred at Fresno State before being drafted by the NBA's Denver Nuggets. He played for both the Nuggets and the Boston Celtics. Herren, however, struggled with drug addiction and his life spiraled out of control.

After completing intensive rehabilitation programs, Herren now travels around the country telling his story and encouraging kids to stay drug-free.
