Cheryl Cunfer, a senior at Panther Valley High School, was the winner in a contest held by Coaldale Volunteer Fire Company to design for them, an original logo. The contest was open to students from Marian and Panther Valley High Schools. Cunfer's logo was a six-point design, bordered in bold red. It featured a fireman's hat with No. 1 on front, superimposed with a hatchet and pike, against a gray background, with ladder, nozzle, and first-aid box. It will be part of the fire company's flag.
