A Schuylkill County man was jailed on Tuesday, April 16, following a domestic incident at his residence.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said troopers responded to 104 Jackson St., Port Carbon, about 6 a.m. for a dispute between Stephen Haeberlein, and a 37-year-old female, troopers declined to identify.

Troopers allege that Haeberlein punched the female several times in the back of the neck. He also picked up a metal iron and threw it across the room and it struck the woman on her right leg causing about a one-inch laceration.

Troopers took Haeberlein into custody and he was arraigned by on-call District Judge Christina Hale, of Frackville, on charges of simple assault and harassment. He was committed to the county prison in Pottsville after failing to post 10 percent of $25,000 bail.
