A View From a Bridge' opens at Strawberry Playhouse Friday

Published April 18. 2013 05:03PM

As part of their 10-year anniversary celebration, members of the Strawberry Playhouse will be featuring a two-weekend performance of "A View From The Bridge" by American playwright Arthur Miller.

Directed by Lucille Fala-Brennan of Jim Thorpe and Tuscarora, the show will serve as the Strawberry Playhouse's 10th annual spring show.

The play, a suspenseful drama, is set in 1950s America, in a Brooklyn Italian/American neighborhood near the Brooklyn Bridge.

The main character in the story is Eddie Carbone, an Italian American longshoreman, who lives with his wife Beatrice and their orphaned niece Catherine.

As the play begins, Eddie is protective and kind toward his wife's niece. As the play develops, Eddie's feelings grow into something more for Catherine.

This attachment to her is brought into perspective by the arrival from Italy of Beatrice's two cousins, Marco and Rodolfo, who are both hoping to find work in America.

The shows will run tomorrow and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.

The show will also be held next Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the same times.
