A 17-year-old female from Tamaqua was injured around 8:15 last night after losing control of her car and crashing it into a pole along the southbound side of Hometown Hill (SR309) in Tamaqua.

Friends on scene said that she was coming from a sports banquet in Tresckow. Both lanes of the road were closed for a short while as initial responders arrived on scene.

Tamaqua fire police later opened one lane to allow traffic congestion to filter through. Responding were Tamaqua Rescue Squad, firefighters, police and ambulance.

The female, who was the only person in the vehicle, was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in Coaldale for unknown injuries. No more information was available as of press time.
