Firefighters with the West Penn Fire Company No. 1 were starting their weekly training session (which happens to be brush fire training) when they were dispatched to Lumber Lane around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in West Penn for a brush fire. The fire, located atop a hill, was quickly contained by firefighters. West Penn Police also responded. On a related note, Schuylkill County commissioners enacted a temporary outdoor burn ban throughout the county will remain in place until noon on Sunday, May 5.
