Hometown man cited in Tamaqua

A Hometown man was cited by Tamaqua police On March 17 after causing a disturbance in the area of North Railroad and Vine streets.

Patrolman Thomas Duarte was dispatched to the area at 1:50 a.m. for a reported suspicious person. As he approached Duarte observed a male standing to the right of the roadway yelling and trying to flag down passing vehicles.

The man, identified as James John Bennek, 39, of 180 Claremont Ave., was found to be in a highly intoxicated condition. He was cited for public drunkenness and transported to his home by Rush Township police.
