Boarding up after fatal Mahanoy City fire

When the sun rose Saturday workers began boarding up the apartment building at 329-331 E. Center St., SR54, Mahanoy City, after an early morning fire killed two, injured another, and displaced several neighbors.

Police said homeowner Morris Seabra, 69, was rescued from the second floor but later died. His wife, Adele Seabra, 60, also was rescued but pronounced dead at the scene by Schuylkill County Deputy Coroner David Truskowsky, Mahanoy City. A first floor occupant, Edward Droginis, 90, was airlifted to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown, where he is listed in critical condition in the trauma unit. The cause is under investigation.
