Tamaqua man cited for theft

Published April 06. 2013 09:03AM

A Tamaqua man was cited for retail theft following an incident at the Family Dollar Store on March 21.

Officers were dispatched to the Railroad Street store at 7:50 p.m. to deal with a male who had been caught shoplifting. The male had left the store traveling south on a bicycle. Patrolman Karl Harig observed a male riding a bike north on Rolling Mill Avenue and stopped the individual, who was identified as Earl Francis Hartranft, 34, of 336 Lincoln St.

Hartranft admitted to stealing several Cadbury creme eggs from the store, telling Harig they "were addicting."

He was cited for retail theft.
