Acting on a tip, Tamaqua Police were able to take a wanted New Ringgold man into custody on March 19.

Patrolman Peter Wysochansky went to the Rowe Street area in search of one William David Lee, 38, who was wanted on a bench warrant for failure to appear in court to answer to charges of simple assault. The officer observed a male in the area and stopped to speak with the man, who became very nervous when asked for identification.

Lee provided a North Carolina identification and the warrant was confirmed during the records check. When told he was being placed under arrest, Lee fled on foot. As the chase ensued, Lee tripped on a step and decided to give up.

He was then transported to the Schuylkill County Prison, Pottsville.
