Monroe resident facing charges

A Monroe County resident is facing several charges following a traffic stop.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said Jorge Hernandez-Castro, 28, of Tobyhanna, was stopped about 4:22 p.m. on March 28 at Cayuga and Kilmer drives, in Pocono Farms, after police observed the inspection sticker on the vehicle had expired.

Police said a further investigation revealed the sticker was fraudulent and had been altered. Hernandez-Castro then produced a counterfeit state identification card with identifying information form of another individual. Police said Hernandez-Castro is illegally in the country.

He was placed under arrest and charged with forgery, identity theft, possessing instruments of crime, and altered, forged, counterfeit license, registration, and documents.

He was arraigned before a district judge and committed to the county prison in Snydersville after failing to post $5,000 bail.
