Accident leads to DUI charge

A one-vehicle accident in Monroe County led to the arrest of the driver for driving under the influence (DUI).

Pocono Mountain Regional police said the crash occurred about 2:44 a.m. on March 30 along Long Pond Road, in Tobyhanna Township. Police said Tara Hughes, 37, of Blakeslee, drove her vehicle off the road and crashed into a tree. The vehicle sustained heavy front end damage.

Hughes was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI and transported to the county DUI center for a blood test.

Police said she was booked and later released.
