Rush-Ryan seniors

The Rush, Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens Inc. met Sept. 11 at the Ryan Township Fire Company with 42 members in attendance. The business session was conducted by Vice President Nancy Godonis. A moment of silence was held in observance of the lives lost on 9/11/2001.

Chaplain Kathleen Valentine offered an invocation. Reports were presented by secretary Gloria Gerhard and treasurer Shirley Becker, who both offered inspirational readings. Birthday wishes were extended to Rose Valee, Betty Brobst, Joyce Krell and Jane Tarter.

The group meets the second and fourth Monday of every month. Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join.

St. John Lutheran

The Rev. Phyllis Wolford will officiate at the 9:15 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. Sunday school classes will meet at 10:30 a.m.

Activities for next week include: Monday, worship and music committee will meet at 6:30 p.m.; Thursday, Angel Choir rehearsal at 6 p.m., Shepherd Choir meets at 6:30 p.m., Chancel/Adult Choir rehearses at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, blessing of animals service at 10 a.m., Luther's Angels will meet to bake Welsh cookies.

All cemetery items must be removed from the graves by Oct. 5 at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.

First Methodist

The Rev. Marge Kropp will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this Sunday in First United Methodist Church. The service will include a children's message. Sunday school will be held following the service.

Activities for next week will include: Tuesday, the quilters will meet at 9:30 a.m.; Wednesday, the chancel choir will rehearse at 7 p.m.; Thursday, finance committee will meet ar 6:30 p.m.

Zion Lutheran

The Rev. Jeffrey Kistler will officiate at the 9:30 a.m. service this Sunday in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. Sunday school classes will meet at 8:30 p.m.

Also on Sunday, the fundraising task force will meet at 10:45 a.m., Scouts will meet at 6 p.m. and the Tamaqua Faith Fellowship will meet at 6:30 p.m.

Activities for next week will include: Monday, the building/visionary group will meet at 7 p.m.; Tuesday, scouts meet at 6 p.m., property committee meets at 6 p.m., finance committee meets at 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, senior choir rehearsal at 7 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, Goods and Stuff Rummage sale form 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

St. John UCC

The Rev. Kevin Duffy Guy will officiate at the 9:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. John United Church of Christ. The service will be followed by a time of fellowship, with refreshments. Sunday school classes for all ages will be held at 11 a.m.

The weekly radio program will be aired on WLSH - AM1410, at 11:30 a.m

Also on Sunday, the Confirmation class will meet at noon

Activities for next week will include: Tuesday and Wednesday, rummage sale; Wednesday, choir rehearsal at 7:30 p.m.

Next week, the consistory will meet at 7 p.m. Monday; Wednesday, the choir will rehearse at 7:30 p.m.

Zion Lewistown

Youth Pastor Mark Shellhamer will organize the contemporary youth service for 10:45 a.m. this Sunday in Zion Church in the Lewistown Valley. Sunday school classes will meet at 9:30 a.m.

Track boosters

The Tamaqua Raider Track Boosters will meet Monday, at 7 p.m., in room 370 of the Tamaqua Area Middle School. Anyone interested in supporting the teams is welcome to attend this organizational meeting.
