The Summit at Blue Mountain to host Fall Fest on Oct. 6

A Fall Fest will be hosted by The Summit at Blue Mountain Nursing & Rehabilitation Center on Saturday, Oct. 6, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. in the parking lot at the Summit, 211 N. 12th St., Lehighton. The event will be held rain or shine.

A scavenger hunt will begin at 9 a.m. Registration from 7:30-8:30 a.m.

A Little Miss Summit/Little Mr. Summit and Jr. Miss Summit/Jr. Mr. Summit Pageant will be held at 10 a.m. Registration is required. There are two age categories: 0-4 years old "Who's the cutest?"; 5-10 years old "Who has the best talent?"

Contestants are asked to give a brief talent display. Attire is casual. The number of contestants is limited. Call Doreen Schaffer at (610) 377-7206.

Live musical entertainment by the Perseverance Jazz Band, sponsored by the Mahoning Valley Lions, will be offered from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and Remember When will perform from 2-5 p.m. There will be covered seating; bring a lawn chair.

The LVHN MedEvac medical helicopter will be landing at 11 a.m. From 11 a.m.-1 p.m., the public is invited to take a look inside (weather and schedule permitting).

A pet pageant, with three judging categories: talent, costume and pet/ownerlook-alikes, will be held at 1 p.m. All pets must be on leashes and have up-to-date immunizations. The pageant is free to register and participate; however, donations will be gratefully accepted. Registration is from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the day of the event. Race cars will be on display from 9 a.m. to noon. Other activities offered throughout the day include CareNet, Child Car Seat Safety Checks, and Child and Resident IDs.

Activities for the children include the Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company Safety House, pumpkin and face painting, clowns with balloons, potato sack race, milk bottle toss, fish/duck pond and the Spinning Wheel of Safety. A raffle drawing for a bicycle, open to children up to 12 years of age, will be held at 4:45 p.m. You must be present to win.
