Driver charged after crash

A Schuylkill County driver has been charged following a one vehicle crash that occurred about 8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 24, along Taylorsville Road, in Barry Township.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Nikolas A. Houck, 18, of Frackville, was operating a 2011 Hyundai Elantra westbound when he failed to negotiate a right hand curve in the road. The vehicle crossed the eastbound lane before going onto the berm and into a soy bean field. The car traveled through the field about 56 feet before turning in a clockwise manner.

The car then traveled about 72 feet before rolling over once in the field. After rolling over the car landed right side up and facing Taylorsville Road.

Houck then drove about 30 feet out of the field to the road, down the road about 432 feet before coming to a final stop on the north side facing west.

Houck sustained a minor injury but did not require immediate medical attention. Troopers cited Houck for driving on roadways laned for traffic.
