Jeep loses tire, overturns on Hometown Hill

Two young children were taken to St. Luke's Hospital in Coaldale for minor injuries around 3:30 p.m. yesterday after the Jeep Wrangler their mother was driving overturned on Hometown Hill (SR309) after reportedly losing a tire. All three lanes of SR309 were closed as police and emergency personnel responded. Responding in addition to Tamaqua and Rush Township police were Tamaqua ambulance, Lehighton ambulance, Tamaqua Rescue Squad and Tamaqua Fire Department. Fire Police controlled traffic. The mother, Mary D'Angelo, from Tamaqua, said she just had work done on the vehicle. No other information was available as of press time.
