A Carbon County jury panel deliberated into the evening on Friday, Sept. 14, before finding a woman not guilty of two counts of driving under the influence (DUI).

Jodi L. Klingle, 36, of Palmerton, was charged by Palmerton police following an accident that occurred about 3:25 a.m. on April 2, 2011, in the 800 block of Mauch Chunk Road.

When police arrived on scene they found two women outside the crashed vehicle. Police could not determine who was the driver.

Klingle was taken for a blood test which revealed a 16BAC. The other woman found at the scene, identified in the police report as Carol Kirchhoff, was also taken for a blood test.

Klingle denied being the driver of the vehicle saying the other woman was the driver.

The jury also found her not guilty of false information to police.

The trial began Thursday morning before Judge Steven R. Serfass.

Klingle was represented by Attorney Paul J. Levy. Assistant District Attorney Cynthia Ann Dyrda Hatton prosecuted the case.
