Man shot in Lehighton

Lehighton police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred early this morning in which one person was shot and another is in custody.

According to reports, a male was shot in a second-floor apartment at 198 S. First St. The shooting was reported about 3:41 a.m.

The location is above two store fronts, one being the occupied by the Carbon County Republican Committee.

The male who was shot was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, and admitted. No condition report was available because his name has not been released.

The TIMES NEWS learned that a female is in custody and the shooting was apparently the result of a domestic dispute.

Police from surrounding communities responded to the scene to assist borough police.

Attempts to reach Lehighton police this morning were unsuccessful.
