Jim Thorpe borough police today released a report on an incident at the L.B. Morris Elementary School, located at 101 W. 10th St., that occurred on May 25 in which a student was found in possession of marijuana.

Police were called to the school on that date and told by school personnel that a 12-year-old male had marijuana on him. The juvenile was interviewed in the presence of his mother and stepfather. The juvenile at first stated that another student told him to take possession of the marijuana and threatened him if he refused.

However, the juvenile later recanted that statement and confessed that he lied about the other student and stated he found the marijuana at his bus stop.

Police said they filed a juvenile referral with the county juvenile probation office charging him with possession of a controlled substance and possession or delivery of a small amount of marijuana, both misdemeanors.
