Tamaqua's Sept. 11th Community Memorial Service set at New Life Assembly of God Church
Tamaqua's Sept. 11 Community Memorial Service is changing locations this year, but the goal is the same, to remember those who gave their lives on Sept. 11, 2001 during the worst terrorist attack on American soil. This year's event will be held at the New Life Assembly of God Church, 407 Schuylkill Ave., and will again be sponsored by the South Ward Playground Association.
The line up of guest speakers will include: State Sen. Dave Argall; State Rep. Jerry Knowles; Schuylkill County Commissioners George Halcovage and Gary Hess; Schuylkill County District Attorney Karen Byrnes Noon; Schuylkill County Clerk of Courts Steve Lukach; Schuylkill County Register of Wills Michael McCord; District Judge Stephen Bayer; Tamaqua Mayor Chris Morrison; Tamaqua Borough Council President Micah Gursky; Atty. Matt Cartwright; Salvation Army Major Sharon Whispell; and military veterans Andrew Leibenguth and the American Legion Riders.
Former Tamaqua Mayor Richard Hadesty will serve as master of ceremonies and the invocation will be offered by the Rev. Ed Noftz of New Life Assembly of God Church. Vocal selections will be provided by Rosemarie Noftz, Michaela Noftz, and Dollinda Linkhorst.
The public is welcome to attend. Activities will begin at 7 p.m.
