Published September 10. 2012 05:04PM

A Schuylkill County man was jailed on Sunday for assault following a domestic incident at his residence. State police at Schuylkill Haven said the incident occurred about 5:40 p.m. at 315 Market St., in Port Carbon.

Troopers said at the time and location stated Richard Lewis Dingman Jr. 42, and Cora L. Franz, 39, got into a verbal argument that turned physical. Dingman allegedly grabbed Franz by the throat and attempted to choke her.

Troopers said Dingman was taken into custody and charged with two counts of simple assault. He was arraigned by on-call District Judge James Reily, of Pottsville, and committed to the county prison after failing to post 10 percent of $15,000 bail.
