Delegate to speak to Palmerton Demos

Published September 06. 2012 05:02PM

The Palmerton Area Democratic Club will hold its opening meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 7 p.m. at the Fireline Hotel, Bowmanstown with featured speaker, Billy O'Gurek, Chairman of the Executive Board of the Carbon County Democratic Committee and a delegate to the 2012 Democratic National Convention. He will share highlights from his convention experience.

"I am honored to represent Carbon County and the state of Pennsylvania at the Democratic Convention and support the Democratic Party's platform and President Barack Obama in this pivotal Presidential Election," O'Gurek said. "The contrast between the values of each party could not be more dramatic than it is this year. I plan to come back with a clear message about why voters in Carbon County should choose to support the values of the Democratic Party and how President Obama plans to move us forward not back."

PADC President, Sarina Berlow added, "Once again this year the PADC will continue its program of supporting the Food Bank run by the Community Action Council of Palmerton Area Churches (CACPAC). We appreciate those attending each meeting remembering to bring canned goods to donate for those in need."

The area covered by the Club includes Palmerton, Bowmanstown, Towamensing Township and Lower Towamensing Township. Meetings are monthly on the second Tuesday of the month, September to May, at 7 p.m. at the Fireline Hotel, Bowmanstown. Newcomers are welcome.
