Rush Municipal Building serving as warming station

Published October 31. 2012 05:03PM

The majority of Rush Township won't be restored until later today, while parts of West Penn aren't expecting power for a few days. If you are livingwithout power and want a safe, warm place to be, go to the Rush Township Municipal Building, located at 104 Mahanoy Avenue in Hometown. The building is open to anyone wanting

to get out of the cold or needing electricity. It will remain open all night until power is eventually restored sometime tomorrow. Lorraine "Sissy" Brill, Public Safety, volunteer with the Rush Township EMA, stated her appreciation to all volunteers who have spent the last few days removing trees and debris from area roadways. She added that they are accepting snacks and refreshment and encourages anyone to simply drop them off at the building anytime. She is also asking for volunteers as long as the warming station is open. The Tamaqua Salvation Army is also open to anyone without power. There are currently no live-in or sleeping shelters in Schuylkill County.
