Squirrel causes blackout to 360 homes

Over 360 homes in Tamaqua and areas west of Tamaqua were without power late Saturday afternoon for about 45 minutes after a squirrel chewed through a power line at a electric switch located at the intersection of Swatara and Lafayette Street in Tamaqua. PPL workers responded quickly and removed the burnt squirrel. Tamaqua Fire Police directed traffic at lighted intersections without power.
