Nesquehoning man charged
A Nesquehoning man has been charged with stealing the Visa card of a borough woman and using it to make a cash withdrawal.
Ricky Alex Williams, 22, of 353 E. Catawissa St., has been charged by Chief Sean Smith wtih identity theft, access device fraud (two counts), theft, and receiving stolen property.
Police charged that Williams took the credit card of Edna Newman, reported to be his grandmother, and used it to withdraw $250 without her permission.
Newman reported the incident on Aug. 31. Through an investigation police determined Williams used the card at the Turkey Hill, W. Catawissa St., in Nesquehoning, on Aug. 26. Police viewed the surveillance video of the ATM machine and identified Williams.
Police could not immediately locate Williams, who they considered homeless at the time. On Oct. 24 Williams was located and placed under arrest.
He was arraigned before District Judge Casimir T. Kosciolek, of Lansford, and committed to the county prison in Nesquehoning in lieu of $1,000 straight cash bail. Police noted that the charge is a felony since the victim is 77 years of age.
Police also noted that Williams has an active bench warrant for his arrest issued out of Lehigh County.
