Attempted break-in, theft probed

State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating an attempted burglary and a theft incident, both in Schuylkill County.

The attempted break-in occurred at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, located at 1 E. Caroline Ave., East Norwegian Township, Saint Clair. Troopers said unknown criminals attempted to pry open an entry door on the south side near the social hall boiler room, to gain entry.

Entry was not made but damages were reported to the steel door, door frame, and door knob. The incident occurred sometime between Oct. 24 at 10 a.m. and Oct. 25 at 10:25 a.m.

Troopers said a 2002 Polaris Sportsman 90 all terrain vehicle (ATV) was removed from a terminal area, at a entrance gate, near Coal Mountain Road, in West Brunswick Township. The ATV is the property of Brian R. Rich, of Orwigsburg. The ATV is valued at $600.

The theft occurred sometime between July 30 and Oct. 19, troopers said.
