Carbon County businesses cited

Two Carbon County businesses have been cited by the Wilkes-Barre enforcement office of the state liquor control board for violations of the state liquor code.

The Ukrainian Homestead, Lehighton, was cited for a liquor law violation on Aug. 16, 2014. The citation was issued on Jan. 23.The club sold alcoholic beverages to nonmembers and sold or gave them at a place other than the licenses premises.Denithorne Brothers Inc., 845 Interchange Road, Franklin Township, was cited for violations on Dec. 2 and 8, 2014. The citation, issued Jan. 16, states on the dates cited the business failed to constantly and conspicuously expose the restaurant liquor license under a transparent substance on the licensed premises.These charges will be brought before an administrative law judge, who may impose penalties ranging from $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious violations.The judge can also impose a license suspension or revocation, based on the severity of the charges.
