Luzerne driver facing charges

A Luzerne County driver is facing charges following a incident in Carbon County. State police at Lehighton said the incident occurred about 11:15 a.m. on Oct. 16. along SR248, about five-tenths of a mile west of Centre St., in Parryville.

Troopers said Alice A. Carsia, 65, of Hazleton, was operating a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer in the right lane eastbound while Vanessa Ashilynn Garcia, 25, of Jim Thorpe, was driving a 2012 Toyota Corolla, eastbound in the left lane.

Garcia attempted to pass and overtake Carsia in the left lane. Carsia then attempted to change lanes from the right to left with the driver side of the Trailblazer sideswiping the passenger side of the Corolla. After impact Carsia fled the scene.

Carsia was charged via summons with misdemeanor three count of accidents involving damage to attended vehicle or property, and summary counts of duty to give information and render aid, driving on roadways laned for traffic, and careless driving.

No one was injured in the incident, troopers noted.
